The project involves rebuilding a cottage that has been seriously damaged by fire. The building in Church End, Hale, is set within a conservation area and will involve reroofing and rethatching. The work is being carried out for Churchtown Estates Ltd. The project has a value of £200,000 and has a completion date of December 2017.
The uniqueness of the project really lies in the roof of the property. It is a traditional thatched roof that will be constructed using traditional skills. The thatch is crafted from bespoke sold oak timber trusses and solid timber spars.
The Church End project will also involve a variety of other works. Asbestos removal is required and, as ever, B & E Boys will call upon its significant expertise of carrying out such tasks with health and safety being the primary concern. Boys will also be responsible for the provision of scaffolding for the project.
The required masonry work involves bringing the masonry down to the lower lintel level, the removal of rendering, and brick cleaning to masonry. Lintels will be replaced and repairs will be carried out to the chimney. The project also involves a rebuild of the masonry walls.
Timber joist and truss works will be carried out, and all internal joinery works will be undertaken by B & E Boys, including the replacement of a softwood timber suitcase.
There are a variety of internal works involved in this project. Existing floor and wall coverings will be stripped out and internal plaster works will be completed. Following this, internal decoration works throughout will be carried out by B & E Boys.
New floor coverings will be fitted. In addition, we will take care of the provision of new kitchen and sanitary fittings. M&E works will be completed, windows and doors will be replaced and fireplace works will also be undertaken.
Externally, decorations will be completed to timber, masonry and metal work. All landscaping, paving and driveway works will also be carried out. This will ensure that on completion of the project, the building will look as good outside as it does on the inside.
