B & E Boys Limited have been awarded a £450,000 refurbishment contract for Hazel Grove High School in Stockport. The 20 week project will result in a high specification refurbishment of the Maths tower. The three storey teaching block dates back to the early 1960’s when the school was originally built.
Hazel Grove High School were delighted to announce it had been awarded funding by the Education Funding Authority (EFA) to refurbish the Maths tower. The school’s Chair of Governors, Dr Keith Harrington, said: “Hazel Grove High School is a 21st century school working with the community in partnership to build a better future for its students. The award of this funding together with other investments we have recently made will ensure that our students are taught in a modern environment which reflects their high aspirations.” He added, “It is a busy time for us as we have just opened a brand new 3G sports pitch for the benefit of students and the community.”
The works involve the refurbishment of existing classrooms, starting with the external fabric repairs with insulated render system, followed by the replacement of existing windows and screens with powder coated aluminium solar reflective glazing. Once the external work has been completed, a phased internal classroom refurbishment will commence consisting of ceiling and floor replacements, plaster patch work. In addition to that a new electrical installation will be carried out, finishing off with painting and decorating throughout.
Work commenced on 14th March 2016.
