Holmefield Garage Moves Premises to Rawtenstall Units to Let
Home for Holmefield Garage, owned by Barry Meeks for over 50 years, has been a garage attached to the Shell Petrol Station, Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, which also has a Spar shop and Subway. When the lease expired on his garage, which provides car servicing, mot test and car repairs, Barry realised that The Corn Exchange, Rawtenstall, Rossendale was the ideal location for his existing business.
Only a short distance away from his current garage, Unit 8 will provide the space Holmefield Garage needs to continue completing services and MOT’s, as it has recently received approval from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA). Barry is currently installing all his garage equipment and MOT check ramps but it is only a number of weeks before he will open his doors to new and existing customers. Discussions between Barry and Boys had been on going for well over 12 months, and despite a number of alternative Businesses expressing a keen interest in Unit 8 at The Corn Exchange, it was decided that Holmefield Garage would after all be best suited for the space on offer.
Unit 8 is fully self contained and was fully refurbished by Boys two years ago, works that involved a new metal cladded roof, double glazing installed to all windows, the installation of a toilet block on the ground floor, a new lobby entrance, and improvement works to the adjacent yard which will now double up as a car sales pitch for the new Tenant in a very prominent and well located premises.
We therefore look forward to another 50 years of Holmefield Garage. Barry will probably have hung up his tools and swarfega by then but who knows, he may be working on the new generation of electric and hybrid cars where a computer will be more useful than an oily rag!
