B&E Boys Announces New Project at St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Ordsall

28th November 2025

B&E Boys is pleased to announce the commencement of our latest educational development project at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Ordsall. The scheme, planned over an anticipated 40-week construction period, will deliver significant enhancements to support the school’s vision for a safe, nurturing and aspirational learning environment.

A Major Investment in Learning Spaces

The project includes the creation of a new, stand-alone Key Stage 1 (KS1) Block, featuring modern classrooms, group rooms and WC facilities. Designed to provide additional high-quality space for younger learners, the new block will help ensure that every child at St Joseph’s continues to learn and grow in an environment tailored to their needs.

In addition to the new building, the scheme incorporates an Entrance Extension, forming brand-new administrative areas to further enhance the daily running of the school. The works will be complemented by extensive external improvements, including a new MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) pitch and car park, supporting both curriculum delivery and wider community use.

Respecting St Joseph’s Values and Environment

St Joseph’s is a school built on respect, inclusion and the belief that every child is unique and capable of becoming “the best that they can be.” B&E Boys is proud to contribute to a setting where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to thrive as responsible and caring members of their community.

As part of this project, we will be implementing a specialist no-dig construction method in line with the approved Arboricultural Method Statement (AMS), ensuring full compliance with planning conditions and Salford’s Local Plan Policy GI5. This approach protects the school’s natural environment, particularly the important trees on site, while still delivering the robust infrastructure needed for long-term educational use.

Key measures include:

  • Installing tree protection fencing and ground protection prior to works
  • Undertaking surface preparation by hand, under Arborist supervision
  • Using a no-dig, porous construction system with a 3D cellular confinement layer
  • Avoiding any excavation that risks disturbing tree roots
  • Documenting all works to maintain full transparency and compliance

These techniques ensure that improvements to the school grounds are carried out sensitively and sustainably, safeguarding the landscape for years to come.

Proven Expertise in Education Projects

While this is our first project at St Joseph’s, B&E Boys has extensive experience delivering high-quality construction within live school environments. Our team understands the importance of maintaining safety, minimising disruption and working collaboratively with school leaders throughout every phase of development.

Most recently, we delivered a significant extension at St John’s CE Thornham Primary School in Middleton – an ambitious project completed for the Cranmer Educational Trust. You can read more about that development here.

Our consistent track record demonstrates our commitment to creating exceptional spaces where children can learn, play and achieve their potential.

Looking Ahead

We are delighted to partner with St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School on this transformative project and look forward to delivering facilities that support the school’s mission: to provide a happy, safe and inclusive place for every child, grounded in respect, community values and the love and protection of God.

As works progress, we will continue to share updates with the school community and the wider public.
