Over the years B&E Boys have taken on a large number of projects within the education sector all across the North West region. Our client list is varied and extensive, with Burnley College, Leicester College, Urmston College and Oldham Sixth Form College being just a few of the major projects completed.
Now B&E Boys have been awarded a £1,050,000 contract with Blackburn Borough Council for a major new construction project at Cedars Primary School in Blackburn.
As part of Cedars’ transition to become a single-site school, B&E Boys will demolish an existing block of school and replace it with a new steel-framed and traditionally clad construction.
The new two-storey teaching block will be complete in time for the next school intake in September 2017. The six month contract will ensure that the disruption caused to the staff and pupils at the school will be kept to an absolute minimum, with the school community being able to enjoy their new facilities at the start of the 2017/18 academic year.
The Lead Consultants for the Cedars Primary School project are Capita. B&E Boys will carry out the works under a traditional contract. We will be employing are usual supply chain and fully trained direct workforce. Work will commence on Monday 13 February.
The Cedars Primary School project once again shows our continued commitment to build better futures for local communities. Schools and colleges are an intrinsic part of this. It is extremely important to ensure that children and young people are taught in modern, friendly and welcoming teaching environments. Schools and colleges are more
than ‘just’ buildings, but real community hubs for local people. B&E Boys work hard to ensure that all the education projects we complete result in facilities that the whole community can be proud of.
As with many other education projects we have completed, the day-to-day running of Cedars Primary School will carry on unaffected. We are experienced at carrying out work – even on large college campuses – where safety and access for staff, pupils and traffic all have to be carefully considered and managed.
We will update you in due course as the project progresses. If you would like to know more about other education projects completed by B&E Boys, you can take a look at our portfolio page detailing the work we carried out at Burnley College.
