B&E Boys Handover Hollingworth Fold Cottage Project To Rochdale Council

17th May 2024

B&E Boys are delighted to announce the handover of the Hollingworth Fold Cottage project to Rochdale Council.

This incredible 30 week project, beginning mid September 2023 and completed early April 2024, was an honour to complete. We utilised our many experts who specialise in building and construction practices common in historic sites to ensure that the repairs did not detract from the age and appearance of the Cottage.

The building benefited from structural repair, repointing and new timber windows and doors. This cottage is registered with Historic England, so all structural repairs and timber windows and doors were sympathetic to the age of the building, preserving it for the future.

Further careful and expert repairs were also undertaken on the interior, particularly on the timber works. A full rewire and central heating system was installed to ensure the safety of the building and the redecorating was accompanied by new finishes on the flooring throughout. This stunning Georgian building also received a new drainage system and a klargester septic tank was installed.

Hollingworth Fold Cottage is set in a picturesque area, with many other buildings of historic interest nearby. It is also close to the Hollingworth Lake and Country Park, which is an award winning tourist attraction!

B&E Boys have plenty of experience of delivering on historic projects such as this one. Naturally, respecting the age and provenance of the building is of paramount importance and balancing those concerns with ensuring the longevity and safety is something that we are very familiar with. We are thankful to have received this project from Rochdale Council whom we have previously worked with when we completed extensive works as part of a  £1million project at St John’s CE Thornham Primary School in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

We would also like to thank our pointing and masonry contractor for their fantastic work on this project.

If you have a project on a historic or listed building, please get in touch with us to discuss your options and how we can help.
