Boys Construction called in by Bury Metro to rebuild and extend Goshen Gymnastics Centre.
The project comprises the 1.5 million pound refurbishment of the existing fire damaged gymnastics amenity block and new construction of a gymnastics hall for Bury MBC
The construction work will comprises of piled foundations and gas protection measures due to previous contamination of the site. There will also be a substantial gymnastics landing pit constructed using reinforced concrete walls with an integrated tanking / gas protection membrane.
The gymnastics hall itself is a steel portal frame constuction with composite cladding, rainscreen cladding and Kalwall transluscent panels to the building envelope. Feature brickwork piers will be constructed that allow the steelwork to site outside of the internal gymnastics hall wall line.
The existing building has been stripped out and will be re-roofed, a new external render system applied, and new windows and doors fitted. New shower and changing areas to service both the gymnastics centre and external sports activities associated with the adjacent sports fields will be provided. All electrical,plumbing and mechanical installations will be undertaken within the scope of Boys works.
B & E Boys were selected as preferred contractor by Bury MBC after the initial tender process and worked closely with the design team to value engineer the project within the extremely tight project budget.
B & E Boys have worked on numerous projects with Bury MBC and for the various educational establishements in the Bury area such as Bury College, Holy Cross College, and Bury Grammar School for Boys.
