John Boys attended the Electricity North West Low Carbon Technology Event at AMRC North West, Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone yesterday. This event aimed to show businesses how to reduce emissions and Industry leaders offered advice on how to save energy and reduce costs as well as carbon emissions. The event included discussions on net zero journeys and how to find out what help and support is available for businesses. Attendees were also able to view and test drive energy efficient electric vehicles.
The speakers on the day included Jonny Sadler, strategic decarbonisation manager at Electricity North West, Lancashire County Councillor Shaun Turner, Miranda Barker OBE, CEO of East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce & Industry (representing Chamber Low Carbon), Melissa Conlon, commercial director at AMRC North West, Paul George, commercial manager at Drax and Paul Fox of Fox Brothers.
Speaker Jonny Sadler said: “With the climate emergency, energy crisis and the impending deadline of 2030 for the ban of new petrol and diesel cars, Lancashire businesses are under increasing pressure to address and navigate a growing list of challenges… There are many benefits of change, like saving money and lowering your environmental impact, but it can be difficult to know how and what to prioritise. The 2030 deadline, for example, means businesses need to urgently put in place a plan to electrify their fleets and extend car schemes to include more EVs, and there are big financial savings to be made in doing so.”
The event was delivered in partnership with AMRC, Chamber Low Carbon, East Lancashire Chamber, North and Western Lancashire Chamber, Let’s Experience Electric, Lancashire County Council and Boost.
