Mike Carney has received and attended another invite to a local careers fair, this time at Haslingden High School.
As well as manning a stall where he could chat one on one to interested pupils, he went on to hold a presentation to over 150 very interested students! Indeed, Sally Finney of Haslingden High said, “Thank you so much for supporting our careers fair yesterday. I know our students enjoyed visiting your stand.”
As part of his presentation, he discussed his career of over 50 years in the construction industry. These invaluable insights helped to give a true overview of what a career in the building industry can be.
He explained the differences and the range of the different careers within the construction industry which showed the true variety there really is. From an architect and brick layer, to town planner and welder, there truly is a vast array of different roles and there is something suitable for everyone.
He even went on to explain the different ways into the construction field, whether that is through an apprenticeship, T Level, degree apprenticeships or full degree, and how to find the right fulfilling career for them.
He was able to give them a full overview of the construction sector from an insider’s perspective. We hope the students found his insights and experience as valuable as we do here.
We are always looking for more ways to reach out to our local communities and are incredibly thankful for our invite to Haslingden High School. We hope we are able to visit them again for future opportunities!
