John Boys Joins Preston Walk & Talk Exploring the City’s Past, Present and Future

11th August 2025

John Boys, Director of B&E Boys, recently joined fellow members of the Preston Partnership for an insightful walk-and-talk tour around the city centre; and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon exploring both Preston’s rich heritage and its exciting future developments.

Led by Preston Partnership board members Beckie Joyce, Alban Cassidy, and John Chesworth, the event offered a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the city’s proud history while learning about the transformational projects currently shaping its future.

Stops on the tour included:

Winckley Square – one of Preston’s most historic and architecturally impressive areas
The Station Quarter – a key gateway development zone
Preston Markets and the £45m Animate Scheme – a flagship leisure-led development bringing a cinema, bowling, and restaurants to the city
St. John’s Shopping Centre – set for an exciting multi-million pound redevelopment
Vault, Preston’s new Youth Zone – a state-of-the-art facility currently under construction to support young people across the city

The tour concluded with a relaxed walk through Avenham and Miller Parks, finishing with a well-earned drink in the sunshine at The Continental.

John said of the afternoon:

“It was a pleasure to be part of the Walk and Talk event. It really brought to life the scale of investment and ambition across Preston, and it was inspiring to see how heritage and innovation are being brought together to create something truly special for the city.”

The Preston Partnership is a private-sector-led organisation made up of businesses, institutions and individuals who are passionate about Preston’s growth. Its goal is to support regeneration, attract investment, and promote collaboration to help the city thrive.

Following the success of this event, Preston Partnership will be making Walk and Talks a regular part of their calendar – so keep an eye on their newsletters and social media for upcoming dates.
