Kingfisher, Rawtenstall see the light with new solar panels.
Kingfisher Rawtenstall recently had Solar Panels installed – or Photo Voltaic cells and are now able to generate part of the electricity required to run the Serviced Office Space. With rising energy prices Kingfisher were keen to protect their tenants from increasing financial pressure of rising electricity bills. Taking advantage of the new Feed In Tariff means the centre can now reduce the amount of electricity bought in ensuring that bills do not get any higher.
The £20,000 investment should pay for itself in under 10 years thanks to grant funding for low carbon energy generation.
Kingfisher which is part of the Boys Group of Companies is home to the first renewable energy project undertaken by the Group. Boys also have planning permission and Environment Agency licenses for a Hydro Turbine on the bank of the River Roche which bounds the J2 Business Park site. It is hoped that this project will be underway later in the year.
