Manchester Millennium Powerhouse Presentation

13th June 2024

We would like to say a huge thank you to Frameworks Training for inviting us to give a presentation about our works on Manchester Millennium Powerhouse and our low carbon approach to the works that we are undertaking.

Carl Wilde delivered the presentation, covering our Fabric First Works, explaining what changes we would be making and the greater implications – better insulation to reduce heat loss, improving the energy efficiency and contributing to a lower carbon footprint of the building.

He then went on to explain the difference between structures and infrastructure within the built environment, and the importance and impact they have on our daily lives. From here, he covered the construction process, and how the wider team of B&E Boys and their partners all contribute to our goals!

Carl also kindly shared his own journey within the construction industry, sharing how he went from an apprentice joiner, all the way to the Operations Manager role that he holds today. He even covered the vast array of projects that he has been involved in – showing how an apprentice can go onto delivering multi-million-pound projects.

All of this culminated to show the students just how many different career roles there are within just the construction industry, and the scale of different projects that can be undertaken – there really is something for everyone! In fact, Wayne O’Brien of Frameworks Training even remarked, “our group were saying how much wider the opportunities were within the sector after you had spoken to them so that was great to hear how inspired they were!”, and he commended the presentation for really reaching and interesting their group.

These outreach sessions are something that we really believe in at B&E Boys. Working within the local community is important to B&E Boys and aligns with our social value strategy – we strive to offer our support wherever we can!

Thank you again to Frameworks training for inviting us!
