It’s always fantastic to be able to report on the expansion and success of a client or tenant. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that we can announce that Mattress Tek – tenants at Forest Mill, Water – have recently extended into the unit next door at Forest Mill, Water. This takes their footprint from 16,000 sq. ft to 22,000 sq. ft.
The original unit is currently being used as Mattress Tek’s factory. The shopfloor accommodates the fabrication, build and electrical department. The unit also features a meeting room, break-out area, and office which they added, along with inventory store and mezzanine for the electrical department. The extra space that the new unit provides will enable the company to house a showroom for the stand-out machines from its range – as well as those in development that are ready for testing – and house their new internal pallet-making activities to support the continued flow of orders. This will allow Mattress Tek to welcome customer visits from the UK and the USA, and from across the globe, for machinery demonstrations and testing. Mattress Tek first moved to the Rossendale site in 2019.
96% of the company’s suppliers are based in Lancashire. This is a statistic that they are rightly proud of, and they have received significant recognition across the business world in the North West over the last few years.
Mattress Tek won the Made in Rossendale and Valley at Work trophies at the Rossendale Business Awards. At the Insider North West International Trade Awards, the company won Company of the Year (Under £20m) category and, in addition, were finalists in The Manufacturer MX Awards, which led to them attending a reception at the House of Lords, and they were also in the running for more awards including the prestigious Red Rose Award. They were nominated in the Insider Made in the North West awards, were awarded the Global Britain award at the MEN Business Awards, and are also currently shortlisted for TheBusinessDesk.com’s International Trade Business of the Year.
Michael Boys (Property Director) said, “We’d like to congratulate everyone at Mattress Tek on their recent expansion into the adjoining unit at Forest Mill. The success and growth of the company has been very pleasing for all concerned. They are a proud local business and one that has been flying the flag internationally with great success. Mattress Tek thoroughly deserves the awards and nominations that have been bestowed on them and we look forward to seeing them welcome new customers from the US, Australia, Asia, Europe and here in the UK, to the extended premises. B&E Boys would like to wish Mattress Tek all the best for continued success in the future.”
Mattress Tek have grown a reputation for being an industry leader in production line automation for the mattress, bed and component sectors, and over 40 years of combined experience has been at the heart of the company’s success. Over 70% of its range is exported and one of the main benefits of the expansion is the opportunity the new showroom will have to attract customers visits from across the globe. As Michael Boys said, with such a high proportion of its suppliers coming from the local area, Mattress Tek truly is a company that is flying the flag globally for North West business.
They have just launched their sub brand AutomateTek to differentiate their conveyor and factory automation offering, and their range can be viewed at www.mattresstek.co.uk
