Padiham Town Hall Phase 2 Project Completed

28th February 2019

B&E Boys are pleased to report that Phase 2 of the extensive work carried out on Padiham Town Hall has been successfully completed. We have previously written about the initial project on this fabulous and iconic building. Regular readers and local residents won’t need reminding about the devastation caused in the 2015 Boxing Day floods, which left so much damage to the area in and around Padiham.  Many families were forced to evacuate their homes over the festive period, The Environment Agency declared a Red Alert warning for the whole of Lancashire, and the Army had to be called in to deliver much-needed support.

When the dust settled, it became clear that Padiham Town Hall had been severely damaged in the floods. In fact, the ballroom of the Town Hall was completely ruined with absolute destruction found to the ground and lower ground floors.

The grand re-opening of Padiham Town Hall was a proud moment for all concerned. It was fitting that Granada TV crews were there at the official ceremony on 8th January 2018 to capture the moment and feature the event on the local news that evening.

However, whilst the destroyed ballroom had been the focus of the initial refurbishment project, lack of investment in recent years in the building as a whole meant that additional work was much needed to restore Padiham Town Hall back to its true former glory.

Essential repairs were required in order to avoid further deterioration of the structure. Additional enveloping work to the roof areas and the masonry was vital. Our work was not done as essential parts of this fantastic old building needed to be rescued.

Therefore, Phase 2 of the Padiham Town Hall project began in March 2018 and the work was completed in September 2018. The works also included refurbishment/Repair works to water damaged areas. A new flat roof was added to the main stairwell. Damaged stone copings received aluminium capping. In addition, Plygene Gutter Lining to existing cast iron gutters and internal decoration works were completed.

B&E Boys have a proud history and outstanding record of completing extensive refurbishment and restoration on buildings across the region. The company is happy to consider all types of construction projects. Please get in touch if you have a project in mind.
