B&E Boys are proud to continue playing an active role in the Lancashire Skills Pledge, a county-wide initiative designed to strengthen the local workforce and create meaningful career opportunities for people across the region.

Earlier this month, John Boys attended the Lancashire Skills Pledge Celebration & Awards Event at County Hall in Preston, joining more than 500 businesses who have committed to investing in skills, people and long-term employment across Lancashire. The event was a chance to celebrate what businesses are achieving together, share best practice and look ahead to how skills and employment support will continue to grow into 2026.

As a long-established Lancashire company, B&E Boys sees workforce development as more than just a box-ticking exercise – it’s part of a wider values-led approach to running the business. That’s why the company has signed up to six of the Lancashire Skills Pledges, supporting young people, students and existing staff at different stages of their careers.

These pledges include:

  • Helping young people get work ready
  • Becoming an Apprenticeship Ambassador
  • Recruiting Lancashire people
  • Offering work experience and industry placements
  • Upskilling the workforce
  • Providing a placement to a university student

 

Together, these commitments ensure that B&E Boys is not only bringing new people into the industry, but also supporting them to grow, learn and progress once they’re there.

That commitment was recognised in 2024 when B&E Boys received the Lancashire Skills & Employment Hub Pledge Award for ‘Offer a Placement to a University Student’. The award reflected the company’s hands-on approach to giving students meaningful, real-world experience that helps them build confidence and develop the skills employers really need.
