B & E Boys Ltd have just commenced a new project for Lancashire-based James Hall & Co. Ltd. The work involves the removal of asbestos, demolition of an existing building and preparation of the site in advance of the construction of a new Spar Store and Petrol Forecourt in Tottington near Bury.
James Hall & Co. have a proud local history. The Preston-based family business was founded in 1863 in Southport. Currently they are one of the largest employers across Lancashire with over 800 staff. Re-investment has always been a top priority for James Hall & Co, and this has been central to the continued growth of the business over the years. Its purpose-built distribution centre on the fringes of Preston, next to Junction 31a of the M6, has been the company’s home since February 2011. The depot features a unique design which has created an impressive multi-functional site that has the capability of handling and distributing a wide variety of goods, as well as manufacturing fresh food.
James Hall & Co. are perhaps best known as being a wholesaler and distributor for SPAR. The company now serves over 600 SPAR stores across the North.
B & E Boys have the ideal credentials to take on a project such as this one at the Tottington site. Any project that requires the removal of asbestos has to be approached extremely carefully. Furthermore, great consideration will need to be taken on the project to ensure that all preventative measures are fully in place to avoid the nearby water course running close by becoming contaminated.
Of course, B & E Boys are no strangers to projects of this type. We have consistently enabled local businesses and organisations to create a more sustainable environment. We have taken on several projects over the years that have involved the reclamation of contaminated land and have carried out remedial work to produce a cleaner environment for all.
The J2 Business Park project in Bury involved dealing with a large site that faced considerable circulation problems. It was a project, just like the latest one with James Hall & Co. that called on all of our extensive demolition and environmental skills.
We will keep you updated as the project progresses.
