B & E Boys are pleased to announce that the latest phase of development at Waters Meeting Industrial Estate, Bolton has now commenced.
Work began at the 45 acre Bolton Point/Waters Meeting site, located off Crompton Way, in early May. The value of this project exceeds £1million and will last for 20 weeks. It is scheduled to finish in September/October.
We previously announced that Phase 1 plans had been put in place to further improve the site’s infrastructure, including the extension of estate highways to serve the largest remaining area of the whole site. B & E boys successfully obtained outline planning consent for the 10 acre space in 2014.
Now we are pleased to say that we are progressing further with this exciting next stage of the development of the Waters Meeting site. Construction has now begun of 3 steel portal frame buildings. The aim is to create additional storage, workshop and office facilities, with sizes ranging from 2500 sq. ft. up to 6000 sq. ft. The construction work will see a range of skills and trades employed for the duration of the project, including steelwork, cladding and external works.
The 15 years since B & E Boys acquired the Bolton Point/Waters Meeting site have seen plenty of activity on what is now a highly desirable and popular development. Waters Meeting now stands proudly as one of the largest development sites in the North West. The project has always thrown up several challenges right from the outset. Contaminated land needed to be reclaimed and a variety of specialised ground treatment works have been necessary, including dynamic compaction and lime stabilisation.
B & E Boys have driven through the development of the site from the early stages of planning consent to construction. The site now boasts a variety of modern units that have attracted a range of new businesses and created over 500 jobs for local people.
The Waters Meeting site makes an important contribution to the local economy and B & E Boys are pleased to be driving forward on this latest stage of its development.
