Construction of eleven, three bedroom, five person homes, within a residential area and adjacent to an existing school

The properties on this housing development were built to Sustainable Homes Code Level 3, and were clad in reconstituted roof tiles and facing block, enveloping a heavily insulated timber frame structure.

Due to the sloping nature of the site, Boys had to install gabion retaining structures to the rear of the properties to create relatively level garden areas. This offered the added benefit of enabling Boys to reduce its carbon emissions by ensuring that all excavated spoil was relocated beneath the gardens. In addition a sizeable rainwater harvesting system was accommodated due to the volume that needed to be infilled.
