The extension to a Grade I listed building was a rewarding challenge for Boys and is one of our ‘flagship’ projects
The new building consisted of excavating into the hillside to provide a significant stone faced 6m high retaining wall prior to constructing the new administration block, which also housed a presentation theatre and a shop.
Works inside the existing building consisted of specialist underpinning techniques, tanking and demolition works within confined areas of the museum. This created space for two passenger lifts, a disabled platform as well as additional exhibition space.
