At B&E Boys, we’re always proud of the people behind our business – and this April, one of our own is taking on a challenge for a truly meaningful cause.
Eddie Slattery will be running a 10km race today, Saturday 11th April to raise funds for MS Society UK, and while he modestly describes the distance as “fairly unremarkable,” the story behind it is anything but.
Eddie is taking part to support his close friend James, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a couple of years ago. The condition has significantly affected James’s legs, making everyday movement – and especially running – a real challenge.
Despite this, James has signed up to take on a 10km event in Henley-on-Thames in support of MS Society UK. In a show of true friendship, Eddie and a group of their mates are planning to surprise him by joining him on the start line and completing the course together.
Training hasn’t been easy. Eddie shares that James is currently managing around 2km before his legs begin to give up – meaning the day itself will be as much about determination and teamwork as it is about distance.
Eddie and the group will be there every step of the way, helping James push through what will undoubtedly be a tough but incredibly rewarding experience.
Their goal is not only to complete the challenge together but to raise as much money as possible for MS Society UK, an organisation that provides vital support, research, and advocacy for those living with multiple sclerosis.
At B&E Boys, we think this is a fantastic cause and an inspiring effort. We’re incredibly proud of Eddie and his commitment to supporting his friend and raising awareness for MS.
