B&E Boys is proud to announce the successful completion of the £500,000 refurbishment of Haslingden Market, a cherished landmark at the heart of the community. After months of dedicated effort and collaboration, the market enjoyed its grand reopening on the 13th December, ready to welcome visitors to a revitalised space that promises to enhance both its functionality and charm.

A Vibrant New Hub

At the heart of the refurbishment is the creation of a dynamic social hub. The central area has been transformed into a sheltered seating zone, complete with benches for visitors to enjoy a variety of street food offerings from newly installed cabins. A versatile open-air space has also been developed, designed to host an array of activities, including music and theatre performances, mini festivals, and artisan markets.

Improved Safety and Accessibility

The market now features a levelled and resurfaced floor, ensuring enhanced safety and accessibility for all. Upgraded lighting and signage create a brighter and more welcoming atmosphere, while newly installed gates and railings at either end of the market provide added security and aesthetic appeal.

Further improvements include:

  • Renovation of the public toilet block.
  • An improved trader communal area.
  • Façade refurbishment of the trading units.
  • Installation of new central covered structures and canopies.
  • Upgraded paving and drainage systems.

Haslingden Market

A Collaborative Effort

This project, funded through a £200,000 contribution from Rossendale Borough Council and £300,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, represents a significant investment in the future of Haslingden Market. The work began in July, overcoming delays caused by the previous contractor, and has been completed on time for the festive season.

A Grand Opening and Future Vision

To celebrate the reopening, a calendar of events has been planned, including a young people’s market to welcome back the community. The newly refurbished market will also introduce new traders alongside familiar favourites, offering a diverse and exciting shopping experience.
