Make It Visible

19th July 2024

Make It Visible Mental Health

You may not know that suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45, and tragically, men in the construction industry are more at risk than those in any other sector. This is a stark reminder of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in our field.

At B&E Boys we are committed to making a difference. Our goal is to foster a supportive environment where everyone feels safe to discuss their worries and concerns. To help us achieve this, we are sharing access to Make it Visible, a dedicated resource focusing on the health and wellbeing of workers. This platform aims to reduce suicide rates, improve workforce welfare, and spread awareness of the available support.

Here’s how we can all contribute:

  1. Talk Openly: If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to speak up. Whether it’s with a colleague, a manager, or a mental health professional, talking can make a huge difference.
  2. Support Each Other: Check in with your colleagues. Sometimes, just asking someone how they’re doing can provide the opportunity they need to open up about their feelings.
  3. Use Available Resources: Explore the Make it Visible website for valuable information and support services tailored for our industry. Don’t wait for a crisis to reach out – proactive care can prevent many issues from escalating.
  4. Participate in Wellness Activities: We will be organizing various mental health and wellness activities. Your participation not only benefits you but also helps build a stronger, more connected team.
  5. Keep it Visible: Let’s ensure that mental health support information is always in sight and on view at our work sites. This can include posters, flyers, and regular reminders during meetings.

Remember, it’s okay to not be okay. Together, we can create a work environment where mental health is a priority, and everyone feels supported.

Let’s make mental health visible and take care of each other.
