John Boys was delighted to attend the ‘Start the Social’ Train Journey, a unique networking event hosted by Equilibrium. The scenic journey along the East Lancashire Railway (ELR) offered a fantastic opportunity to connect with local business leaders while celebrating one of the region’s most cherished heritage assets.
Joining the train at Bury and alighting at Rawtenstall, we were fortunate to enjoy the beautiful Lancashire countryside as well as some insightful conversation on board. A particular highlight was an engaging talk from Mike Kelly, Chairman of the ELR. Mike shared a fascinating overview of the immense work and dedication that goes into running the railway; from the staggering cost of maintaining and operating steam engines to the vital role volunteers play in keeping the line running smoothly.
The ELR is much more than a tourist attraction, it’s a living part of our industrial heritage, powered by a passionate community of supporters and skilled engineers. It was both eye-opening and inspiring to hear more about the behind-the-scenes efforts involved.
As a business rooted in the Rossendale Valley, B&E Boys is proud to support the East Lancashire Railway. We’re pleased to have recently made a donation of pointing materials for the paving flags at Rawtenstall Train Station, a small contribution to the ongoing improvement and preservation of the line.
