At B&E Boys, we recognise the role we must play in helping drive positive change across the industry and within the communities we work in.

Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

B&E Boys are proud to hold ISO 14001 accreditation, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to effective environmental management and continual improvement across all areas of the business.

Through regular environmental audits, ongoing monitoring, and continuous review of our operations, we work to ensure environmental responsibility is considered at every stage of project planning and delivery – not just at policy level.

Our Environmental Policy and Waste Management Policies help guide day to day operations across both our office and site teams, while regular environmental training sessions and Toolbox Talks ensure sustainability remains a key focus throughout the business.

As part of our long-term environmental strategy, B&E Boys have committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050, including a 50% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, alongside a 50% reduction in Scope 3 business travel emissions.

Taking Action Across Our Operations

Over recent years, B&E Boys has introduced a number of initiatives designed to reduce carbon emissions and improve environmental performance across the company.

These include:

  • Installation of electric vehicle charging facilities at our headquarters for staff and visitors
  • Upgrading office lighting systems to energy-efficient LED technology
  • Supporting green energy supply usage wherever available across operations
  • Regular review and improvement of our property portfolio, including overcladding roofs and walls to improve heat retention and natural light efficiency
  • A strong waste management strategy focused on recovery, reuse, and recycling, with a target of recycling over 90% of unavoidable waste
  • Encouraging collaborative waste reduction planning with design teams prior to site commencement

We also aim to source materials from suppliers located as close to project sites as possible, helping to reduce transport emissions while supporting regional supply chains and local economies.

Investing in More Sustainable Plant and Equipment

Earlier this year, B&E Boys continued to future-proof its operations through significant investment in new energy-efficient Manitou equipment following the acquisition of plant and machinery from PV Dobson.

The latest generation of machinery offers improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and lower environmental impact while also incorporating advanced safety features and improved operational performance.

This continued reinvestment reflects our belief that innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence must go hand in hand as the industry evolves.

Delivering Sustainable Projects Across the North West and Beyond

Sustainability is increasingly shaping the projects we deliver for clients, communities, and partners.

One recent example is the completion of the major refurbishment works at The Millennium Powerhouse in Moss Side, Manchester. Delivered through a fabric-first decarbonisation approach, the project significantly improved the building’s thermal efficiency through upgraded insulation, new cladding systems, high-performance glazing, and roofing improvements designed to reduce long-term energy consumption.

Similarly, our recently completed redevelopment of Root Farm in Dunsop Bridge for the Duchy of Lancaster showcased how heritage preservation and sustainability can work together. The project incorporated photovoltaic panels, ground source heat pumps, advanced insulation standards, and extensive use of reclaimed and locally sourced materials to create environmentally responsible workspace facilities for the rural community.
