At B&E Boys, we believe that investing in the future of the construction industry starts with engaging and inspiring the next generation. That’s why outreach and education continue to play such an important role in what we do as a business.
Recently, Mike Carney and Shannon Pilling visited Thorn Primary School to deliver an informative and engaging presentation about the wide variety of careers available within the construction industry.
During the session, pupils learned that construction is about far more than just building sites. Mike and Shannon spoke about the many different roles involved across the sector, from project management, quantity surveying and engineering, through to health and safety, administration, design, skilled trades, apprenticeships and site management.
The presentation gave students an insight into how the industry operates, the skills required for different career paths, and the opportunities available for young people as they progress through education and into the workplace.
Encouraging young people to explore careers in construction is something B&E Boys is passionate about. By working with local schools and community organisations, we hope to help students better understand the diverse opportunities within the industry and inspire future talent to consider construction as a rewarding and exciting career path.
The visit was another great success and generated extremely positive feedback from both staff and pupils. The children thoroughly enjoyed the event, particularly the interactive elements and opportunities to participate throughout the session. Staff commented that the information provided gave pupils a great deal of “food for thought” when considering their future careers and helped broaden their understanding of the opportunities available within the construction sector.
Following the event, Thorn Primary School praised the value of the presentation and expressed their enthusiasm for continuing the initiative in future years. The school highlighted the positive impact the session had on pupils and their appreciation for B&E Boys’ support in helping to inspire and guide young people as they begin to think about their future career paths.
